Things I Wonder About...

So, does anyone really believe that Olive Garden commercial where they say all of their chefs are trained in Italy? I've eaten plenty of their food and seen some of the chefs and I'm just not buying it.

When people go to one of those high rise golf practice ranges... where do the balls go? Do they hit innocent pedestrians and knock them out? Do they evaporate into thin air? I've been puzzled by this one forever.

When the media refers to Ted Kennedy as Edward, do they think we don't know it's the same Ted Kennedy that drove a car off a bridge, drunk, killing Mary Jo Kopeckne? Do they use it out of respect??? He's still the same guy no matter how you say his name. I'll never forget that.

What ever happened to the Kennedy cousin that was accused of killing the young girl, who fled to Europe for many years to avoid prosecution? He was in the news for a while after he came back to the US, then I never heard anything else. Oh those Kennedys! They sure know how to cover up secrets, don't they?

What makes people ask uncomfortable questions of others? Do they want to see them squirm, or what?

Why do some parents let their children eat any and all crap, making them overweight? I don't understand it.

When driving, why do people get right up on you, within inches of your bumper, when they can clearly see a car in front of you going slow? Why is he riding my ass?

Why do people stare? This has been a huge question with me for my entire life. I especially don't understand it when someone is physically challenged or has a visibly physical oddity of some kind. Don't they know these people suffer enough without having to be stared at? I've never been the type to stare. I smile at them, then I'm on my way. I wouldn't want to ever make some innocent stranger feel worse by staring at them forever. It's just so rude.

Why do people complain so much about the state of things in this country, when we all know that Washington is a well oiled machine and runs the way it always has, no matter who is in office? Maybe they don't know it or have never taken the time to figure it out. I've heard it called the 545 (most recently by Charlie Reese, a former columnist with The Orlando Sentinel and much of this is from him) . The 545 politicians in Washington who create problems and then campaign against them. The 545 politicians that are getting paid BY US, are the ones who hold the key to every lock and the solution to every problem. I mean Jeez... if they solved all the problems then we wouldn't need them anymore, would we? Uh-Huh. I'm just saying... One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 300 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country. It reminds me of the joke... How many morons does it take to put in one light bulb? Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts - of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power.

Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we still have deficits?

Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?

Oh My... I guess that's enough rambling thoughts and questions for one day. I've just been thinking a lot about *things* lately, so I thought I'd just kind of throw them out there for all to ponder. And don't worry. I don't really want to know the answers to my wonderings. I just like to waste time wondering.

I have never eaten at an Olive Garden nor have I seen the commercial you're referring to. Maybe they mean the chefs that create their dishes are trained in Italy.

Toodles~

Uh-Huh. Exactly what I'm talking about. However, our choices of places to eat here are slim pickens. But, please! They sure don't send their chefs to Italy, lol. That always cracks me up.

I thought the commercial meant that they had a school in Italy. I never thought they sent ALL their chefs there. (they have CHEFS?)

When my hubs was doing engineering for the bakery, they had the contract for Olive Garden bread sticks. I made him promise not to tell me what is on/in them. He said I would no longer enjoy them if I knew! I detest their salad.

I hate it when people stare too... I don't know which is more rude, that or asking mean spirited questions.

I complain because I vote. I think that gives me the right to speak up!

Olive Gardens...never cared much for anyway!
The Golf balls...end up at the end of the range, where they actually have a machine that picks them all up to be re-used again
The rest of what you said...Toatally agree with you!!
You were into some deep thinking today. :)

Ahaha! I guess I'm in good company, because I always hoot derisively whenever those Olive Gardne commercials come on. There was another a while back where the storyline was that the fictional narator's Italian uncle came to visit and so they took him to Olive Garden and he (Italian Uncle) was impressed with their cooking, which was just like home. I pretty much needed therapy after that one.

Why, why, WHY???! You certainly are full of questions. :)

Don't care for Olive Garden. I'm sorry you're saddled with them there. But now you have to take the bovines there, you know. They have to talk to the CHEF and find out if he trained in Italy. I triple dog dare you. :D

Oh, they'll be heading to Seattle after west Texas, but take your time and enjoy them as long as they're having fun there. There's never a time limit with the cows.

WOW I've been seeing your name and decided to come read a bit myself. GOOD questions. My question is if there are only 545 of them what's wrong with US? Maybe having the "WE THE PEOPLE" truly was inspired. Solutions need to come from us, the people. GREAT questions and comments. I hate eating at McDonald's whoops, Olive Garden. McD's might be better.

Have two more glasses of the Merlot and re-ask the questions to yourself.

The olive garden thing...oh that is such a load of crap...it has to be.

Now I won't be able to sleep. Too much to ponder. Very thoughtful post. Good questions, but no sleep for me! (sigh)
