I thought last night's Academy Awards ceremony was the best I had seen in many years. Hugh Jackman is the most amazing, and surely the best, MC they have ever had. His energy level makes me feel like I'm 80 in comparison. I had to take a nap after watching him with all his energy filling the screen. The man is a total entertainer and yes, I adore him. I might even become his stalker. Or not.
Thankfully, Tilda (WEIRDO) Swinton did not disappoint me in that she wore another Gawd Awful outfit, every bit as ugly as the velvet Mu-Mu she wore last year to the Oscars. I wonder what her boggle is? Once again, she tops the Snooty's Worst Dressed List. Maybe she likes looking ugly. Who knows?
Damn Whoopie! Have you no shame? And Heidi Klum.... what the Hell were you thinking? Sophia! You haven't changed a bit! Yikes! And Meryl, what has become of you and who talked you into that frock?? I can't even talk about Barbie Miley Cyrus.
James Bond 007's date didn't look very happy. Neither did her dress.
I think she was wishing she had Sarah Jessica's basooms. And Sarah Jessica.... Dear God, I do hope she didn't sneeze, although I'm sure Mr. Snoots would have thoroughly enjoyed it. Gah! And since when did Flamenco dresses come into style? I guess I need to get out more. (kidding)
Marisa Tomei looked elegant but Good Gawd! She must have had a whole team to dress her so she could go sit with her co-star Mickey Rourke, bless his heart. Amanda Seyfried of "Mama Mia" and "Big Love" fame looked a bit fussy, but she's young. Hopefully, she'll get over it.
Okay, DRUM ROLL PLEASE! The winners for most elegant and divine are:
Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie-Pitt, and Evan Rachel Wood, who were all dressed like the epitomy of a movie star. It normally takes a bit of seasoning to get the right look for the Oscars.

Natalie Portman, Halle Berry, Viola Davis and Taraji Henson all looked impeccable.
Penelope Cruz (in a fabulous vintage gown), Anne Hathaway (you can't help but just adore her) and Reese Witherspoon (one of my very favorites), who was completely stunning.

I totally missed the Oscars! I have so many things recorded that I hardly even look at what is showing and I completely wanted to see how Hugh was going to MC this year. He's so beautiful!
I'm going to cry in my wine now.
I don't think I have ever watched an awards show!! But I usually watch the fashion police on E! to see who they dog - sometimes I wonder if celebrities even glance in a mirror before leaving the house!
all your comments are right on. Don't you wonder who's telling these people to wear some of these frocks???
I thought the show was better than it has been for a long time too! Hugh is hot, that's all there is to it. I liked Miley's dress, I thought it was perfect for a teenager. My favorite dress was Penelope's. I don't usually go for the lacy garments but she really pulled it off.
Great review!
i was so happy with the awards this year much better in years past. okay so sue me but while tilda swinton's dress was god ugly that woman is fearless. i love that she doesn't wear any makeup and really doesn't give a crap. it's refreshing... anyways i miss the days when cher was at the oscars. think about it those are the dresses we talk about and remember!
I didn't watch, but love looking at the beautiful clothes.
Hugh Jackman - OMG, he is welcome to join me in my dreams any time.
I thought the Oscars was FANTASTIC. It seemed a kinder, gentler Oscars this year. I loved the way they had 5 previous Oscar winners directly speak to the nominee before presenting the Oscar for the Best Supporting Actor/Actress and Best Actor/Actress. That just seemed very special to me.
I loved the musical bits and thought Hugh did a fantastic job - what a voice, what a stage presence! Same with Anne Hathaway, she surprised me and yes, I adore her too. Who doesn't?
Great post on a great Oscar presentation.
Hugh Jackman yummmm
numberonesista: I swear I would have recorded it for you, had I known.
woody: Actually, I prefer to watch it on E! because of the humor...
Krysta: Okay fine. I'm really just jealous of Tilda because she does what I am most afraid of doing. Wait! Nevermind... I almost never wear makeup, unless it's a special occasion or charity ball. However, I just think she tries too hard to show she doesn't care. Me thinks she doth protest too much.
MPM: I was totally mezmerized by the gowns. I also got a few good laughs.
FFP: You are so much nicer than I. I think the crack dealers are choosing those outfits. JMHO
Tammy: I did too! I loved that each previous oscar winner presented the Oscar to the nominated actors that they knew the best.
The whole show made me want to take a trip to New York City & see some Broadway shows. I haven't been since the kids were born. Hmmm...
Bhudda P: Uh-Huh. Very hawt! I've always believed that the best men are the ones who can get in touch with their feminine side and still be all man. Screw the critics!
