It's a bit late to declare a White Christmas, because it wasn't. However, the Widiots were right, for once. It is snowing as I speak and it's colder than it's been in years. West Texas winters can be so unpredictable, but this year has been the coldest I can remember in many moons. Which reminds me... We will have a Blue Moon on New Years Eve 2009. Like when you refer to something *happening once in a Blue Moon* (as in almost never). The next one won't occur until 2028, at which time I might very likely not be alive (when taking my life choices into consideration). So, I'm saying it's time to go for it!
In spite of its name it's not really blue but refers to this partial eclipse happening so rarely. Two full moons within one month. People are so insane during full moons that I can't even wrap my mind around how crazy it will be on New Year's Eve. Take fair warning my friends! Honestly, staying home this year might be a really bright idea after all.
We've been invited to two parties but have yet to decide which one we're going to. It doesn't matter, really. They will both be fun. We just have to decide because Mr. Snoots will not go to more than one party, trust me. I'll consider myself lucky to keep him out until 10:00 PM, if that late. It's just another night to him, come what may.
But I feel that a Blue Moon calls for a special celebration and if I have to celebrate alone, then so be it. That would be nothing new to me. I've been celebrating for years by myself. I always gather my little sparklers and not-really-fireworks as I head outside to set them off, all alone. I also squeal and run away with great glee after lighting them. Mr. Snoots goes to bed the same time as always... 8:30 PM -ish and he never hears a thing. Someone could molest me or the police could arrest me for setting off fireworks and he would never know until the next day.
However, this year has a celebration coming. A Blue Moon is just too cool to pass up! I might even have to crank up my chiminea which I haven't used in years. It's always been too warm outside. I might even go so far as to drive outside the city limits where the fireworks stands are. Oh, that would be daring of me.... to buy real fireworks. I refuse to let this landmark year go by without celebration. Be sure and hold your breath for all the exciting pictures to come.

What beautiful pictures Snooty. Have fun on New Years Eve partying with your friends.
You go! Make it memorable. I just heard about the blue moon this morning! We are supposed to have a wintry mix, so I hope it doesn't obscure the view ;0)
You go girl!
We never go anywhere on New Year's Eve except maybe upstairs to share a cup of cheer with our friends. Or occasionally we meet my sister for an early dinner out in the 'hood ... THAT depends on how cold and/or wet it is.
Happy New Year my friend ..enjoy the Blue Moon! xo
I did not know it was a blue moon! Go celebrate on my behalf... I won't be doing much besides keeping k3 medicated after her latest surgery! But don't break anything or get arrested! I just want you to have fun!
Homeward bound...and gladly! Come join us, Mr. & Mrs. Snoots!
Once a lovely blue moon.
Happy new year, Snooty! :) xoxo
I did not know it was a blue moon tonight!! Thanks for the info. We probably won't see it because of all the clouds and rain.
Enjoy the snow, if you like it, we probably won't get any this year, it's just the way the weather patterns have been going this year.
No matter what party you attend I'm sure you will have a blast!
How cool! I'm not going to mention the blue moon to Hubbie tho. He chases eclipses and dragged me to Paris (when Golfing Daughter was just a toddler) to see one.
I love to watch these things from home, but hoping planes to find them was in another lifetime. lol
