Are You A Warrior Or A Wimp? Live Feed To A Disaster In Progress...

Yes, the LIVE FEED of the oil spill in The Gulf will literally turn your stomach, so I understand if you don't want to watch it or leave a comment. If you do want to see it, please note that the camera occasionally moves and becomes as dull as watching paint peel. Just wait for a few minutes and it will return to the live feed of oil gushing from the unplugged well 5,000' below the surface of the Gulf of Mexico. What else can possibly be said except that it's changing our world as Americans, by the minute.

From what I understand, we should be praying that a hurricane doesn't decide to spin into the Gulf Coast. It could multiply the current disaster by 100 times or more. I've never been so scared for our country's southern coastline as I am now. I also detest the idiots at BP more than ever. I'm fighting mad and I'm considering making a pilgrimage of sorts to the Gulf Coast in order to help in any way I can.

Somehow, some way, we have got to get that 5,000' well plugged but nothing BP wants to do has helped. Reportedly, British Petroleum is hiring the best in the world to help, but I seriously doubt they have gone to such lengths, considering their history. It's all just hot air.  Hot air that I'm becoming tired of hearing. It's all just Blah! Blah! Blah!

BP is still trying to drill two relief wells, but they each take two months (at the very least) to reach depth. However, this is the ultimate *fix* for this oil spill problem. So, I'm thinking that this should probably be a required step BEFORE drilling any other off shore wells (although being so outrageously expensive makes it a no go). Unfortunately, government regulations have been ignored (like forever) when drilling commences. Uh-huh. Go. Figure.

It is time for us, as American citizens, to make sure our thoughts and hearts are heard by Washington. Write your congressman  and your senator and let them know that this IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. Tell them you want to see some regulation monitoring in the drilling of oil wells. It's time to necessitate a change in Washington people. If you stay quiet, then nothing will ever change. Let your voices be heard by way of the written word. Please don't just sit back thinking you can't change anything. Together we can surely make a difference, but EVERYONE HAS TO GET INVOLVED to make this work. Apathy could kill this country and everything that we've ever loved about our country.

Are you going to sit around pretending it's all okay or are you going to stand up and let your voice be heard? It depends on each & every one of us. So, are you a Warrior or a Wimp?

Drill, baby, drill looks kinda dumb now. I just saw something that says we have enough natural gas to take care of us for 30+ years...is that true???

This entire thing makes me want to throw up. I've written my senator and congressmen. I can only hope it will do good.

This is a complete and total travesty!

Disgusting...BP doesn't seem to give a crap! Words are cheap..to see those sorry SOB's whine about their concern on TV. I can't even wrap my head around the level of devastation this "oopsie" will cause the coastal ecosystem. Someone get me a drink...

Call me stupid, but I still don't get how this going on. Where was BP's plan for something like this? Why didn't they work on fixing it sooner? I just don't get it.

The devastation is horrendous.

On a side note, I love your comment "Warrior or Wimp?" I'm so sick and tired of standing up for what I believe in and then have other people think I'm terrible for telling the truth. Apparently we are all supposed to turn our heads when people do things that are wrong. I've tried, but that just doesn't work for me. (I'm done venting now ;o)

MPM: Yes, that's true, which is why natural gas is at an all-time low. Sadly, cars can't run on natural gas.

Annie: I know... It's just heartbreaking.

RY: I agree/ I can't stomach watching any of the senate hearings. The BP guys just skirt the truth and wriggle around, not accepting blame for anything.

Heather: I'm tired of everyone turning a blind eye too. I'm ready to fight but I feel so helpless in all of this. I hope to make my senator and congressman sick of me by the time this is all said & done. I just hope they don't put a hit out on me.

When I look at the Live Feed and the photos of beaches, I feel like a wimp because all I want to do is cry. It is so heartbreaking. Writing to your congressman, senators is a great place to start, but it just seems like there should be more we can do.

I've heard the BP person speak and just can't believe he's so "meh" about the whole thing, it's really unacceptable.

The only other way I know is to become a political activist & campaign to get all the sorry asses out of office that allow this kind of tragedy to occur. There should be fail-safes in place before ever allowing off-shore drilling.

And here's a good one for you. Another example of our fine government at work:

A couple of years ago a friend of ours had stopped to pump gas into his Suburban, then proceeded to take off but he'd forgotten it was still pumping and what resulted was a bit of a mess, but nothing that couldn't be easily cleaned up. I mean, this is West Texas. Who cares if one mesquite bush dies, right? So, the EPA slapped him with a $5,000.00 fine for his little mishap no damage was even done to the pump itself. Then, they sent in a team of EPA clean-up workers that looked like they were ready for germ warfare. It was a ridiculous waste of the government's money & our friend's money. Not to mention everyone's time.

After working in D.C. for years, that story doesn't surprise me at all. What the hell ever happened to common sense?
