Once Again In The Throes Of Making Habanero Chow-Chow, Pear Jelly & Thanksgiving....

Chalk my absence up to my yearly canning marathon, which I wasn't planning to do this year. Then, a friend brought me 6 plastic grocery bags full of fresh home-grown pears and green tomatoes, which I don't have the heart to throw away. So, besides fighting my way out of a paper bag through the aisles at the grocery store, I'm chopping veggies and all that fun stuff. Several. Times. Of course, no one store had ALL the ingredients, so I had the pleasure of going to two stores. Oh Joy. Only idiots like moi brave the stores in the afternoon with all the other morons, at this time of year. Several. Times. And yes, I made my lists and checked them. I'm thinking slow brain death is imminent but I might be wrong.




I hope I have the wherewithal to get this done in the midst of preparing the Thanksgiving meal. I'm going with the Dry Brined Roast Turkey again this year, after last year's success. Man, was that turkey moist!




The Prodigal Son will be driving in from Austin tonight (only able to stay a few days due to classes at St. Edwards) and Snooty Daughter is driving in from Dallas tomorrow. SD can only come home for 2 days, which are the days that the SMU law library is closed. Everyone always says the first year of law school is the toughest, but they never met SD. She's the one who, at 4 years old, refused to get in the boat and rode a gawd-awful, ancient water sled on the roughest water we'd ever been on, all the way across Lake Buchanan back to the house.




Ugh. I so long for nothing to do. Why does everything have to be all jammed into 2 months? Anyway, I hope everyone (especially anyone still reading my blog) has a VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
