Anyway, all soccer games were cancelled, and frankly, any outdoor activity was wisely cancelled. Air flights were cancelled. Our dinner plans were cancelled. By us. Fine. Call me an old fart, but these winds (with the sandy dirt) are brutal. I have a migraine headache from Hell and none of my allergy medications are cutting it. I think I need Roto-Rooter for my nasal passages. If you don't have allergies anywhere else, you would surely have them here, when the wind blows anyway....
So, my favorite Texas Laurel that stood out by the guest house in back, popped it's top tonight, in the wind. The gusts have been up to 65 mph and just caught it off guard. I'm sure it put up a good fight. I will miss that tree so much!
Unfortunately, it did not die a quick, easy death. There is still some *limbage* left. It looks rather like a huge slingshot with no center. Well, when the carcass of the dead is finally removed. Neighbors beware if I locate a giant rubber band.
