Some animals are just plainly incapable of putting on pretenses. Our cat Trouble is not one of them. She can appear to be oh-so- sweet, when she's really ready to pounce at any moment. On whoever is nearest when she gets a whim. She's full of cat-foolery. Well, when she's not asleep. At 15, she still acts like a kitten and gets into a number of messes on a daily basis.
We know she loves us because she has ruined several chairs sharpening her claws in order to protect us from lizards, geckos and mice. That she brings into the house. Uh Huh. She's our Grand Protector alright.
We got her a new toy this year for Christmas but I had to give it to her early. She begged me, really. When she wants to play, she just jumps up on the ottoman and stares at me. I'm not stoopid... I'm a well trained human. I know who the 
boss is.
