Mr. Snooty Catches A Virus...

Ah, Winter! I just love it when cold weather arrives. It means ski season, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are just around the corner. However, along with holidays and colder weather comes the many dreaded viruses, colds and Flu bugs. Neither of us has been truly sick since the kids left home. He said it felt like a *food related thing*, but I seriously doubt it. I've already talked to the guys he had lunch with yesterday and they are fine. Mr. Snooty fixed a wonderful dinner last night of grilled KC Strip steaks, grilled Bok Choy and baked potatoes, but I am not sick, so it was nothing he did here. I ransacked the medicine cabinet in search of something to help him but all I found was a bottle of Emetrol that expired in 1998. Guess it's time to clean out that cabinet, huh?

In all frankness, I believe Vodka kills a lot of the bugs that go around, which is why I'm not sick right along with him. Okay, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

So, I ran to the drug store and bought Immodium as well as Emetrol. When I arrived back home he was back in bed with the covers pulled up under his chin, shivering. I took his temperature but it wasn't even up to 100 degrees. While at the drugstore, I spoke with my favorite pharmacist who told me there is a bad bug going around, then directed me to the aisle where I would find the Immodium and the Emetrol. I haven't been on that particular aisle in forever. I purchased what I needed for him and proceeded to the liquor store to buy more vodka, which I will need if he gets any worse.

Once I arrived back home and got him taken care of I went to the kitchen and began making my medicinal Chicken Soup, which I make for anyone I know that has fallen ill. It might not make someone well overnight, but it certainly doesn't hinder their recovery.

The last time Mr. Snooty got sick with a bug was nearly fifteen years ago, while we were at our lake house. Honestly, neither of us is ever sick. I am a total germ freak and am constantly either washing my hands or using a little bottle of hand sanitizer that I carry in my purse. Yes, there are times I feel like I'm becoming a Howard Hughes type, but I don't think I'm quite that bad. Yet.

So, the chicken broth is simmering on the stove and emitting the most wonderous aromas that seem to be floating throughout the house. I knew Mr. Snooty was really, really sick when he didn't stay up to watch the Univ. of Texas football game against Kansas State. Normally, it would take some sort of extreme emergency to drag him away from a football game with his Alma Mater in the lead. I mean, he's not even listening to it on the radio. Not a good sign.

I hope that it doesn't turn out to be like a Man Cold.

It promises to be a particularly exciting weekend around here. Or not.

So does this mean you're NOT heading North for the shrimp and nekkid festivities? LOL

Sorry Mr. S is sick - I think if you add some vodka to the chicken while it simmers it will infuse the chicken with its' pharmaceutical goodness.

Gotta go - have 40 lbs. of shrimp I need to de-head... gah.

I swear by chicken soup. I'm pretty sure it cured my dog Willie's parvo. Few live through that, but he did. Perhaps it will cure Mr. Snooty, as well. Freaky...I too am a constant hand washer. I carry a bottle of hand sanitizer in my purse and keep a large bottle in my drawer at the office. I'm not a fan of germs, but decline to admit I'm a germaphobe! I think adding vodka to the chicken soup may have some merit! Of course pouring a large measure for yourself might be the best cure!

Snooty, I feel for ya. Men are such babies when they get sick.

There are some nasty viruses going around so I hope you bought a BIG bottle of Vodka, :-)

I do hope he gets to feeling better soon.

Ugh, it sucks when they are sick. I hope he feels better soon but yeah in bed shivering is a bad, bad sign. Hang in there.

Chicken soup and Vodka sound like a plan. Nothing beats a sick husband. Good luck!

I have a friend who also believes a good dose, and I mean GOOD dose, of vodka (or related beverage) kills off anything. Isn't that why everyone used to drink wine, instead of water?

Despite my best attempt with the wine last night, I woke up with a mess of a cold. Couldn't sleep at all. Maybe it really does have be vodka. I'll try to get it right today.

Best to you and Mr. S!

I hope it's not a man cold, either! Good Lord.

Let me know if I can do anything.

So painful when the men are ill...

The dreaded "Man Cold". I much prefer to have a cold myself than to have to tend to one of those {shudder}.

Hope Mr. Snooty feels better real soon, in the meantime enjoy the chicken soup. You just inspired me to make a pot for tomorrow.

:o)
