What Did You Get For Christmas?

I must admit that I got way more than I ever deserved this year for Christmas, but I'm keeping it all.

Mr. Snoots showered me with gifts this year. First there was this wonderful Food Saver that I've wanted for years. Not only will it keep food fresh longer, but it will also allow more space in the freezer. I love it! Even though it plugs into an outlet, which is certainly a husband to wife gift *No-No*.

Mr. Snoots also gave me two (yes, two!) gift cards to Stein Mart, which is my favorite place to shop for clothes and shoes and decorative items. I can now get an entirely new wardrobe, but I'll probably use it slowly, like I always do. Adding pieces to my wardrobe that I really like & will play well with the other items in my closet.

He also gave me a gift card to Starbucks, which is amazing since he refuses to drink a cup of coffee that costs more than a dollar. Personally, I adore Starbucks.

Next, our son gave us a new DVD player for our HDTV in the kitchen, plus some great movies to watch. We love it!

Then, our daughter gave me two new cookbooks that I've been wanting for a reaaaalllly long time. I wanted a new Joy Of Cooking to replace my old dingy one that is 31 years old.

She also gave me a hardback edition from the editors of Cooks Illustrated called The New Best Recipe, which is outstanding!

Soooo.... what did you get for Christmas? I'm dying to know!

I'm also thankful for many things this year. I'm thankful my daughter is still alive and wasn't killed by a blood clot in her leg. (I'm also kind of wishing that her doctor in California soon gets a blood clot in his leg that goes undiagnosed. Okay, not really.) I think we dodged a huge bullet there. I'm also thankful to have a son who made a comeback from the dark side of drugs and has been clean for two whole years. God has blessed us over and over again and I am forever thankful and grateful.

I got a new computer! My old PC when dead a few months ago so I was limping by with a loaner motherboard from a pal, but it was dog-slow! I picked out my own new rig and told Dede that she could consider her Christmas shopping done.

But really, this Christmas was all about Liam. Since it was our first as parents and his first ever, this was a special one indeed! Just seeing his little face light up when he discovered the goodies that Santa had left was priceless.

Merry Christmas to you & yours, Liz!

I am a wimp when it comes to riding my bicycle in the cold and rain. So Vol Fan got me a trainer that I can hook my bike to and ride indoors - yippee!!

You must have been a darned good girl this year! It sounds as if you are truly blessed.

What are you going to cook up first?

Snooty, I was so worried about SD. How truly scary. I hope she is feeling better. It sounds like you have a very strong son. I'm glad you were all together for Christmas.

As for the gifts, I am now the proud owner of an iphone that I have desperately wanted for months. Also the owner of a car that shut-down and a sump pump issue that is beyond Hubbie's expertise. We'll deal with it all Monday.

Still very blessed indeed!

You are blessed my dear. My husband and I stopped exchanging gifts years ago which I like and don't like. I like the no stress of what do I get a man who has/can buy everything but sometimes I like surprises too. This year he did get a Blackberry Storm...I have no idea how to use it...it does everything but go to bathroom for you. I need a class.

The old goat got me a chopping/grinding attachment for my kitchen aid, and a new lens for my camera. And pearls. They're divine!

I build him a new computer! Nothing says love like a 500 gig SATA hard drive!

The presents are great, but having your children safe and sound is the best! At first glance I thought those Stein Mart gift cards were some kind of funky briefs Mr. Snooty had picked out for you!

I'll try to post my gifts later, but first MUST START LAUNDRY!

Harley Guy and I go easy on gifts for each other because after the kids, grandkids and extended family - that's a lot of gift buying. Plus, if we want something throughout the year, we get it. I did get some wonderful smelling scented wax melts and a candle crock pot from my sister, a sarcastic-saying plaque from Alleycat and slippers and an ornament from Monkey Girl.

Seeing the whole fam damily is the best gift though. Just got back home an hour ago. I am in recuperation mode and will catch up on photos and blogging soon.

Snooty
so glad SD is going to be alright, Blood clots can be so dangerous.
Wow I guess I need some lessons in how to be a good girl like you Snooty, although I did pretty good with a pair of diamond hoop earrings :o)

I'm thankful you've been so blessed, too.
Congrats on the great gifts!
I also got a "plug-in" item. A hot pink vacuum. Now I feel like Barbie when I vacuum.

Sorry, sorry!

I got that very same Joy cookbook 31 years ago at a shower before our 4/1/78 wedding and it is MUCH better than the new one! Do not get rid of that old one! Go here: http://www.slate.com/id/2152620/

There's nuthin' like an original....I tell my husband that every night! Hope he's listening.

OK, I must admit I failed to read your last paragraph as I got so involved with your Joy of book.

So wonderful both your daughter and son are so very good - blessings, just blessings in the New Year for you and yours, Miss Snooty!
