Now I Understand The Merits Of Facebook... I Think

This doesn't necessarily mean that I have figured out Facebook. However, through Facebook I've reconnected with an old friend that I haven't seen in 10 years, which makes me ecstatic. It's the friend that talked me into singing the National Anthem before the semi-pro baseball game one night many years ago. Yes, it's my (used-to-be) wild and crazy friend Allison.

She found me through a search on Facebook, which is one feature I'm evidently not smart enough to figure out. So, now I think I *get* the whole Facebook thing. I just don't *get* ALL of the Facebook thing.

It seems like every time I go into my account, it takes forever to do anything. It's very slow uploading or downloading, which makes me very frustrated. That's one of the reasons I quit doing eBay. Their site is so painfully slow that it makes me want to let out a huge primal scream every time I tried to use it. Facebook is running a very close second. I don't like slow. I guess you could say that my internet surfing is right up there with Mr. Snooty's TV channel surfing. Out. Of. Control.

In the last several weeks I've been trying to switch over to a new email account after having been with AOL since 1996. Yes, it has been a particularly trying relationship with AOL over the years and I'm more than ready to bid them adieu. However, I'm having difficulty adjusting to the different format over at gmail, which means it's going to be a rough transition. I'm also thinking about paying for an email account because of my online business. Mr. Snoots has a juno account, so I'm thinking maybe I will do that, but I'll have to adjust to yet another email format.

It seems the world within the internet is changing drastically, at a pace that is difficult to keep up with at times. Sometimes I like the changes, but most often, the changes tend to make the sites go at a snail's pace, which is also very annoying. At my age, you'd think I'd have more patience, but such is not the case.

I will close for now with this... Don't be jealous but I'm headed out to my first appointment with the doctor doing my colonoscopy. I'm all fuzzy feeling about going. Like I want to throw up. I suppose they will give me instructions on how to prepare for the procedure. I. Am. Scared. Shitless. (Oooops! There goes my New Year's Resolution.) One of my closest friends died from colon cancer at the age of 48, so this scares the living hell out of me.

Frankly, I'd much rather be doing something like this:

Good luck today and try not to worry. Trucker says I am right behind as he knows my visit is coming soon.

Love the kitty picture that's adorable.

BTW been meaning to ask you. Is your antique store online? If so share the website please.

I hope your appt. goes smoothly. I'm going to finish this email and then make mine. I SWEAR!

I'm with you on FB and Ebay. I have found many old friends on FB which has been wonderful, but I agree it's slow. It's also a good way to check out what the babysitter is up to. I still can't believe what is on the page of my 16 year-old male sitter's site! Also can't figure out why he asked me to "friend" him to begin with, but the kids LOVE him.

Again, good luck. It's just a necessary evil I guess. At least they can "take care" of most things the first shot through. Imagine having to go back for a repeat performance immediately!

I don't "get" facebook either, and really haven't even looked at it...I think it's going to be too hard for me! I do like my gmail for email though. I like that all my "conversations" back and forth are together, until I do something stoopid! I also like being able to look up past correspondance (SP) and never really having to delete anything. Another big thing I like is that I don't get near the spam I used to get on hotmail...no ads for viagra at all!

You're going to be fine. Really. But as to the internets? Ugh. I love Gmail, though.

When I had mine, the doctor talked w/me beforehand, holding my hand, believe it or not. Might have been the fear all over my face.

Anyhoo, they knock you out, and it's over before you know it. It's a necessary evil we hafta go through, but it saves lives.
