I'm Free, I'm Free.... Now What Do I Do?

I went over to swim today only to discover that the baby sparrow had liberated itself from its little nest in the bird house at my friends abode. I think I surely surprised the little fellow because as I walked onto the patio, he promptly winged his way into the window for a *head shot*, albeit a weak effort. I wouldn't dream of disturbing them but they seemed intent on the idea that I might, if given the chance. So, I went about the business (in between thunder storms) of my daily swim but they were too leery of me to continue feeding their baby.

The little guy just hopped frantically around the patio, chirping as loudly as he could. Once I started to swim he finally settled down...

The Papa Bird  was holding food to take to the little fledgling (birdling?), but abandoned it when he saw me. Gah. I was moving in slow motion too!

Still, isn't it cute in a puffy, fluffy sort of way? Did I mention that I'm completely and totally sick of rain? I'm certain that I'll eat those words at some point BUT I've only gotten to play golf a handful of times this year. So far, my summer has been called on account of rain! Did I also mention that I'll never again complain when we hit triple digits? IF we ever hit triple digits. I mean, where was all of this lovely weather when I was in full blown menopause, huh? Where was this weather when I was suffering through night sweats? Huh? Apparently, the rainy regions of this country decided to share this year. Thanks for that! Okay, I'll take our normally hot, dry weather back now, thank you very much...

We've been having your hot, dry weather here, and my yard shows it. I just pulled out some dry dead annuals and the spent perennials. Yesterday the scattered storms came back. We got called in off the back 9, with 4 holes to go. Oh well... we do need the rain, but I was having a really good round!

Oh, it is HOT and HOT and then HOT here too. Egads. 103 last week. Running in that during the afternoon is going to give me a heart attack.

It's been hot here in CT, but awesome hot... for a change. Very little of the heavy humid thunder showery heat we usually have. Your birds are sweet. I've been photographing a beautiful cardinal who's taken over our yard and absolutely dominates all of the other birds. I've got to post the photos.

Patricia: We've had a Cardinal couple that I can't capture in pics to save my life! Good luck!
