Mini Me Snowmageddon In West Texas....

Our weather alert tonight read as follows (DUH!):

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT CST
/11 PM MST/ TONIGHT TO NOON CST /11 AM MST/ TUESDAY...
...WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM CST /8 PM MST/
TUESDAY TO NOON CST /11 AM MST/ WEDNESDAY...

* TIMING: WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY LATE TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY
MIDDAY. WIND CHILL ADVISORY TUESDAY NIGHT/WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* MAIN IMPACT: SNOW AND POSSIBLY ICE ON ROADWAYS WILL MAY MAKE
TRAVEL HAZARDOUS. OUTDOOR ACTIVITY COULD LEAD TO FROST BITE.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: SNOW AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES POSSIBLE. WIND
CHILL VALUES OF -5 TO 14 -DEGREES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR
SIGNIFICANT SNOW...SLEET...OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT
TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS. PREPARE
PLANTS... PIPES...AND PETS FOR THE HARSH WINTER WEATHER.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN
FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.
IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND
GLOVES.
.....

I mean really. Doesn't everyone know this already? Couldn't they give something a bit more dramatic or detailed? They apparently have to tell these things to the more simple folk where we live because they might not know, which seriously cracks me up! For one thing, most of those folks don't have the internet to receive the warning and many don't have TV either. So, pay attention just in case you're totally clueless in your world. When it's 73 degrees F one day and a Big Blow comes to turn you down to 28 degrees F in just a few hours, you should know it's one cold boogie man out there, right? I finally went out to cover the plants on the front porch, which I seldom have to do, but they'll come back in the spring anyway. They just looked very cold.

Find something or someone to snuggle up to and stay warm wherever you are....

So, do you have your hat and gloves at the ready? LOL That's too funny. The most significant amount of snow in Illinois is supposed to be Peoria. My daughter moved about 10 miles from there 3 years ago. She spent her entire life in the sunny south. They are supposed to get 2 feet of snow with blizzard conditions i.e. can't see to drive. It won't be pretty. She has been lulled into thinking winters up there aren't so bad. She's figuring it out.

Remember to wear your gloves if you go out. ;)

this storm system is only bringing us rain here in Atl. Thankfully! We had enough last go-around. But my poor family in the northeast, watch out, another foot of snow for them in Boston. They'll be moving south soon I'm sure!

We are the only school in the entire county that's still open...everyone else either didn't have school at all or was sent home early. POOH on that!

Stay warm, too, Ms. Snoots!

Hey - the cat won't even go outside! Mr. Snoots still went to the office (because he's a creature of habit), but I'm here at home, still in my robe, LOL! I woke up with a really sore throat (do I snore with my mouth open much? ummm yeah.)

At any rate, I'm not leaving the house & I might just stay in my robe all day. The horror!

Now, I'm going to go & prepare a pot roast for dinner. Mmmm... Cold weather comfort food. Did I mention I've gained back 4 pounds? Sometimes life just isn't fair...
