Today Mr. Snoots gave me the *go ahead* on buying new hardware for SD's old (teensy) bathroom, so I went forth and SPENT MONEY! Frankly, I'm pretty sure I don't have a clue as to what I'm doing but I bloody well tried and think I came up with the biggest bang for my buck.
I went with all nickel finish, which I just love.
Last weekend we brought the painter inside to paint SD's old bedroom in hopes that it will be ready for her by Thanksgiving. Not too certain that's going to happen but it will be close enough to please her. The bed will be delivered day after tomorrow and my excitement is mounting. However, I still have no walls painted and that's a problem and we still need to.
I'm really starting to like this guy. At first, I was perturbed because he's so slow, but I now find that his work is truly impeccable. The problem is that he started on SD's louvered closet doors instead of the room itself. He spent today beautifully repairing the doors and painted the ceiling. I've never had a painter who went to the trouble of fixing things before they painted them so that knocks him up a few notches in my opinion.
So, tonight before he left, he started painting the walls. When I went in to look I almost fainted. I think for such a small room, the color is far too dark. It's much darker than it looked on the sample.
Sooo... I guess I'll be up at 6:00 AM to get the paint back to my new best friend (she still doesn't know it) at Home Depot's paint department, Shannon. I'm certain she'll know how to fix this faux pas. I'm just worried that she'll grow weary of my screw-ups. I know I am.....

I would like to hire your painter!
it's so important to test your color on your wall. The lighting will change the paint color, from day to night it will look different. You may end up liking it when the sun comes up in the morning. I love the new gray!
Well I guess I'm gonna have to like him now. What about doing a light glaze over that peach?

These are the top 10 most popular colors on the neutral/tan/taupe palette. Hope this helps!
Ack - I can't remember my login to comment. The above link is for real - if you're not sure, just go to behrpro.com, then click on the link for TOOLS and then there's a choice for popular colors. I've used Gobi Desert and Peach Sandie and they are bliss.
Woody: Sorry. You can't have him, LOL!
SJ: Thank you! I decided I love it after all, once I saw it in the daylight.
MPM: Yes, it was hard for me to accept him at first too, but there's nothing more wonderful than a job well done, right? It's why I don't let Mr. Snoots help with projects. He just wants to *get her done* & doesn't care if it's done right. Basically, he just doesn't have ANY patience with remodeling & decorating, but not many men do (that are the marrying kind).
Anonymous: Thanks so much for posting. As it turns out I love the color to the point that I want to paint another room in the same colornow, LOL!
