My New Coffee Table In The Den....

Yes, all kinds of *firsts* are happening around here. We moved living room furniture for the first time in 26 years and now I've gone and done the unthinkable. I created a new coffee table for the den. I haven't liked the pecan furniture we have, in roughly 30 years. So, out it went. Well, at least the coffee table anyway.

I was out at Sam's Club a few weeks ago and they had some very handsome dark brown (canvas lined) wicker storage baskets for a totally affordable price, so I bought four of them, unsure as to what I was going to do with them. Once I got them home, I realized their destiny was to live in our den/office, under glass.

The next day I called a local glass cutter and ordered a thick piece of glass cut to my specifications. Within two days, they delivered  my new beveled glass table top. Easy-Peasy-Lemon-Squeezy. Since each piece is for storage, I put all the important things (that we seldom need) inside them. This has really cleaned things up for me in the den.

Now I just need to get rid of that gawd awful lamp table that matches the former coffee table. Craig's List or Goodwill here I come! Luckily, I think our son wants both the old coffee table and matching lamp table, so I'll feel like I'm recycling. Hehe. Sort of. Then, I'll find some great piece of furniture to re-paint, to fit into that spot. I can hardly wait!

I'm also sending two chairs to be re-upholstered. One is from the den (it has a major hack re-upholstery job done by me that has always looked bad) and one is from the living room (that our many cats over the years have shredded with great glee). Both chairs are so pitiful but have good bones, thus, the recycling money pit begins. And, yes, that is a T.V. tray in the corner. It's been there for at least 15 years. Please don't judge, I do the best I can. ;-)

This weekend, I'm also putting some items on Craig's List so that Mr. Snoots will allow me to buy some old (new-to-me) pieces to fill in the gaps that this will create. Did I mention we've had NO HIGH WINDS lately? That means the time is right for spray painting! Oh, Joy! I'm SO ready. Oh. Wait. The minute I typed that statement, the wind came up. Go. Figure.

So, how are things in your world?

I'm linking up/partying here:

Love the new table! I am SOOOOO glad that you have found some relief for the neuropathy!! But damn, aging sucks.

Good news? Well, I don't exactly have concrete good news but these days I'll take it-MIGHT-happen good news.

Talks are in the works for Vol Fan to be getting another job. In paradise. And with great pay. Vol Fan keeps telling me to not get my hopes up, but my hopes are up. Because it is literally in paradise! But mums the word until things are a go.

Ahhh, paradise.....
