Ten Days And Counting.... And "Taking Chance"

Remember these lovely flowers Mr. Snoots brought me the day before Valentine's Day?

One of the keys to keeping them fresh is to remove these thingys:

This is what they looked like on day five.

This is what they look like today, on day ten.

I'd say he made an excellent decision when buying said flowers and on day ten, I'm still raving about them.

Last night I watched "Taking Chance", a new movie by HBO starring Kevin Bacon. This movie is not to be missed. My eyes are so swollen today from crying that I'm not even going to leave the house. "Taking Chance" is truly the most powerful movie I've seen in years. I won't say any more other than if you don't have HBO, then get someone to record it for you that does have HBO. I give this movie 5 stars out of 5 stars. It's that good. I've never given a movie 5 stars. Ever. Click on this link for the trailer. Here is another trailer.

Your flowers are simply gorgeous and still look so fresh.

I've never heard of the movie but after watching the trailer I will be watching it now. The trailer alone made me get all teary eyed. Thanks for telling us about it.

I love it when flowers last. Those look almost as good as on day one.

Gotta see Taking Chance now. :-)

Honestly, I started watching it while eating dinner & nearly choked to death. So, I watched later on another HBO channel. Be sure to have a box of tissues when you watch it....

We taped it....I remember reading his story online. So moving. And those lilies are absolutely magnificent!

The flowers are absolutely beautiful.
Flowers do not last around here because for some reason the cats seem to think they are to feed upon.

I will have to check into renting the movie or having a copy made for me. Thanks for the tip:)

Wow that's a pretty amazing lifespan on those flowers. I'm impressed.

um, snooty, I don't have hbo, will you record it for me? oh wait, I can't come to watch it either. Man I'm feeling so stinking deprived-- first the oscars and now a tear-jerker?!

What IS that you pulled out of your flowers?

They look wonderful, but the worm-like things are scaring (scarring?) me.

Those are STUNNING!

The flowers are just lovely .. clipping those stamens not only prolongs the life but if you brush against them they stain, permanently, your clothes ...

Nice to enjoy flowers for more than a couple days. They still look amazing.

First - what are those little thingies you removed from the flowers that make them last so much longer?

I still have my V-Day flowers, but they're looking kinda grim right now.

I don't have HBO. We have Showtime because son wanted to watch Dexter. I think I'll call the cable place and switch Showtime to HBO now that he doesn't live here anymore.

I have the same question... what are those 'thingies' you removed? Totally awesome flowers, did you add anything to the water also?

Haven't seen that movie but I DO have HBO, so I'll search for it right quick.
