What's For Dinner On Thanksgiving? Hopefully, Plenty Of Leftovers...

Traditionally, we always eat our Thanksgiving meal somewhere between 12:00 Noon and 1:00 PM, depending on each dish being ready at the right time. Of course, best laid plans often go awry, but most of the time I'd say everything comes out ready at basically the same time.

As you might recall, last year we went to Austin to meet up with the kids and had made reservations at the historic Driskill Hotel for Thanksgiving Brunch/Lunch, which was absolutely delightful. There was one major drawback however. It never even dawned on either of us, what we would be having for dinner that night. We didn't have leftovers. So, when dinnertime rolled around and we got hungry, we realized there was NOTHING open in Austin. I drove around for an hour trying to find something for us, but the ONLY place open in Austin was Jack In The Box (Jack In The Crack as I like to call them). So, as much as I didn't want to, I ordered two sirloin burgers with french fries from Jack In The Crack. I must admit that I was thankful to have anything at all to eat. Well, until I started throwing up followed by other disgusting toilet area events.

So, this year we're staying put. Yes, we are staying home this year. Unfortunately, our daughter can't come in this year but our son arrived today. Our best friends (that moved back from Galveston) invited us over for Turkey Day because they are childless this year. Here is a glimpse of our menu:

Dry Brined Turkey*
Giblet Gravy*
Beef Tenderloin
Twice Baked Potato Casserole*
Herbed Cornbread Stuffing
Grilled Asparagus
Caesar Salad**
Parkerhouse Rolls
Cranberry Sauce*
Pumpkin Pie w/ Whipped Cream
Pecan Pie w/ Ice Cream
Red Wine
White Wine*
Coffee Or Naps***

* would be me
** would be Mr. Snooty
*** we don't know yet

We just all wanted to be sure we had leftovers. I never want to be without those again. Ever. Actually, I have a pumpkin pie w/ whipped cream, an extra potato casserole, stuffing, gravy and rolls here for us so that they don't have to send theirs home with us. But, I think this is going to be so much fun! Mr. Snoots and I have spent every year with family and neither of us has been with friends since before we married. We have a lot to be thankful for this year!

WISHING EVERYONE A WARM AND WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!

going to my sister's this year, so no leftovers at my house. I always make a full turkey dinner in mid-December though because I do want all of it again!
Happy turkey day friend!

Sounds wonderful! We're going to our daughter-in-law's sisters, so we will have no left overs this year. Maybe I'll make some dressing today while I'm making pies, I can always cook a chicken on Friday! Happy Thanksgiving, Snooty, may you and yours have a wonderful, relaxing day!
