Let Me Introduce You To My New Little Friends....

I've had constantly interrupted sleep for years, usually due to noise; whether it be dogs barking, birds chirping, the lawn guy trying to do his job at 7:30 AM, helicopters flying over, neighbors trying to mow their lawns early, emergency sirens, or whatever. I've always been a really light sleeper.

Thankfully, when I was in California our daughter got me the most amazing ear plugs... EVER! I can turn the TV way up to blaring and once I have these little darlings plugged into my ears, I hear absolutely nothing. They are so awesome that they rock my world into the land of slumber! Forget about all the others that came before this. They are worthless. These are the only earplugs ever, that I have found to be so totally effective. You can buy them at CVS pharmacy.

On another note, my MD has decided that I need to be on high cholesterol medication because although my good cholesterol is very high, my bad cholesterol is really high too. It's 300, to be exact. Yes, I know I should be dead, but I'm not.... yet. He started me on a very low dose of Zolcor and I've never been so sick in my life. I lasted almost a week before I threw it in the trash. I cannot live my life the way I want to if I constantly feel like I'm going to vomit 24 hours per day. So, it's back to the drawing board. Let's hope the next one isn't quite so brutal.

My high cholesterol is genetically inherited which means there isn't much else I can do besides the meds.  My father and his father (my grandfather) died from heart attacks before they were even 60 years old. I plan to live longer than that, thank you very much! So, I'll go through all the pains of trying to nail the right medication and dosage. For now anyway.

And... Hooray! My new ovens arrived this morning and the guys that are going to make it fit are coming this afternoon. My dream is suddenly closer to a reality.

Oh and here are the pictures from Mother's Day. Mr. Snoots prepared dinner for me and brought me the loveliest bouquet of fresh flowers. What a guy!

I am always so afraid that I am going to miss something I NEED to hear in the middle of the night. That is why I have not tried the earplugs. :( That dinner looks YUMMY! Way to go Mr. Snoots!

Wow! Mr Snoots is quite a guy! And I hope you are able to work something out with your meds because I want you around for a VERY long time.

PS - Thanks for the tip on the earplugs. Bonnaroo is coming up and camping up close and personal with 100k people makes for VERY poor sleep! In the past, we have just relied on lots of caffeine and many different types of 2nd hand smoke to take the edge off of the lack of sleep:)

Try the Lipitor. That other stuff made me sick too, but Lipitor has worked wonders! Or as much as that kind of stuff can.

That dinner looks DELICIOUS! Butter!

As an AVID earplug user, I would also like to suggest Hearos

http://hearos.com/earplugs/products-02826.html

Only the blue ones though. I didn't like some of the other ones as much. Nothing like getting a good nights sleep!

Jess: I tried those before too but these are even better. It has something to do with the bell shape. The only thing you hear is your breathing...

The earplugs are awesome, I don't know how I ever slept without them. At first I worried about hearing my alarm, but I don't even need an alarm clock anymore! :o)

My husband inherited high cholesterol and had the same issue with Zolcor nausea, but finally adjusted the dose and got used to it... keep trying :o\

Now I'm starving for lobster. :o0

Mine was over 400 before Lipitor .. however the downside there is its a statin (however its spelled) and it causes leg/foot and occasionally hand cramps .. next time I see the doc I am asking for something else .. oh with the Lipitor I am rocking 150! And mine is all genetic too.

The old goat has the genetic high cholesterol too. I forget what it he takes now, but it works. He has to have the blood test every 3 months to make sure his liver hasn't quit on him!

Hooray for new ovens and awesome mother's day dinners!!!

I should get those ear plugs for my light sleeping husband... Although when the cat meows to go out in the middle of the night, he claims he doesn't hear it, haha!

Congrats on the ovens! I'm glad Mr. Snoots made your day special!

I've got some cholesterol issues as well. Finally got the bad stuff under control but the good ones are another story ... very low. The Doc keeps remninding me to have one glass of red wine a day. I'm pretty sure after a year of that she's got the dose wrong so I'm self medicating up to 2 a day. Sounded reasonable to me.

For the high cholesterol- try Red Yeast Rice- you can find it in the 'organic supplements' section of the grocery store. We make a lot of cholesterol in my family too- and I dropped mine from 265- to 90 in about 4 months.

Courtney: Thanks for the tip! I know risotto (arborio rice) is supposed to lower it too but I can't eat it everyday, although I would if I didn't have someone else to cook for.
